25th August 2004

My week

I know it has been a while since I last updated my on-line journals.

I have so much to talk about if you wanted to know what happened since last Wednesday.

I did not do much on last Wednesday (18 Aug) and Thursday (19 Aug) but just staying at home and resting. I suffered from some food poisoning. All I need to do is just rest and lay my back in bed. I felt better after drinking 100Plus, it helped to replenish the minerals that my body had lost. Really grateful to Yuhan (my neighbour next door) for buying it for me. It showed me the neighbourhood love and care. It’s no doubt God says, “Love thy neighbour as yourself”.

On last Friday- 20/Aug - I did a rivercruise with Josephine. I have not tried cruising around my own area but been to ferry, and river cruises in other part of Australia, i.e. Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. It would be a shame if I didn’t go on board at any cruise for Yarra River. Yarra Yarra is an aboriginal word means ever flowing. I chose the cruise which goes up stream so I can pass by the beautiful botanica garden and the east bound exclusive suburbs. It was quarter past 3 noon after the river cruise. I thought of going to the Immigration Museum since it is just around the corner. But there was nothing much to explore, the only thing that captured my interest is located in 2nd level - the cooking story. The museum used an creative way to present the immigrants’ stories. And, it is free admission for concession holders, i.e. students and pensioners. Students, why not? It is a priviledge for you to know more about the world.

After touring the museum, I wandered around Flinders Lane and I remembered there is this city library located just around the corner of Little Collins and Flinders Lane. I heard from their promotion that they can lend up to 5DVDs, 5CDs, 5 Language kits or up to 30 items per membership. I just couldn’t miss the chance of borrowing a few from City Library and most of them are psychological books.

On last Saturday 21/Aug -Guess what? Before telling you what’s on that day, I wish to express my appreciation and very thankful to Klara for driving us (Chase, Eddie and me) up to Mt. Buller. Thanks darling. I am really surprised to hear you wanted to drive us up to Mt. Buller because that’s going to be the first trip and the last trip before leaving Melbourne.

I did not plan to do skiing initially or I just wanted to be there for its sake. After a few asking from Eddie and Chase well I guess I have to give a try on that. Dudes, please attend professional lessons prior to skiing. You have to be trained! You have to be taught on how to stop, how to brake, how to balance your momentum, how to GET UP!!!! This is very crucial, seriously!

We were too late for the lessons therefore we did not have a good start. Nevertheless my smart mates can cope very quickly with skiing. Chase and Eddie are both good in picking up, I am glad they had fun. Myself- I hurt my right knee because I fell in an akward position. I could not get up by myself unless I unclip the ski board. It takes a lot of strength to unclip it though. I experience true friendship and love when Eddie and Chase came up and helped me out. Although the slope is not steep, it is slippery enough to make you fall and roll.

I remembered this is what they said,” Vicky, you can do it! Oh C’mon let’s conquer the Mt. Buller….We can conquer the Mountain!….You did very well, Vicky….”

What even touched me was Eddie went up to level 1 and looked for me because we lost each other. He suggested we should go up by chair lift and just to snap some photos before leaving the mountain otherwise I would be bugging him at home for not doing much in the mountain. Awww…so thoughtful of him and he knows me so well ‘cuz I know I will be frowning and complaining without taking any photos.

Note: The photos will be uploaded soon as the server is currently under maintenance.

An incredible, memorable day - Praise the Lord!
Thank you Eddie, Chase, Klara …..Thank God for good friends!

On last Sunday - 22 Aug

Another memorable day of my life - How could I sit in the church service and giggling alone whilst pastor preaching? Tell me - Yes, I was thinking about a silly, trivial riddle that Eddie asked me to guess.

“This hunter never miss any target in the jungle, every animal is afraid of him.
One day he was aiming at an elephant and he shot the elephant. He missed the shot, but the elephant died still. WHY?”

Answer: The elephant died of laughing.

haha…. Sorry God, I wasn’t paying much attention in the sermons. I know you have sense of humour too. hehe, You wouldn’t mind, would you?

After service, we went to Stalectites for lunch, I am glad a lot of them came, Huei Weun, Jonathan, Pei Li, Mun Yee, Amanda, Lenny, Marianne, Ferry. Thank you for the good time. We all had a good laugh isn’t? haha…How can a joke become an explanation of the joke, I wondered.

On Monday 23 Aug
This is another awesome day. I truly thank God for His amazing grace, He is just so wonderful for giving me extra time to spend with my mates.

I went to Street Cafe on Lygon St to have big breakfast with myself and then bought a movie ticket in Nova, watching “Before Sunset”. The movie is great and relaxed my mind. I called Chase after movie to see what she’s been up to. She was free enough to tour me around St. Kilda beach. It is just so enjoyable to sit on the jetty, feeling the sea breeze and the fragance of the beach. Observing what people doing has become my leisures. After all, I went back to Nova Cinema to watch “Dirty Pretty Things” - that is my last movie in Nova I guess. Another good and futsy movie, please check it out.

Okie, tell you what…. I am actually writing from City Library now, utilising their 1 hour Internet access to write this journal.

I shall be right back.

Ciaos.
