Marmite vs Vegimite
Don’t know why am I inspired to blog about MARMITE & VEGIMITE tonight. I have asked around my peers if they know what is Marmite and how they consume it. Most of my girlfriends (sorry I don’t have any male friends who willing to share about their experience in taking Marmite) said their moms usually took a full teaspoon or tablespoon of Marmite and mix it with porridge. I remember my mother used to do the same for all of our siblings, especially when one was sick and with no appetite to consume any food. Mom would just dig a full tablespoon of Marmite and stir it with hot water as soup serving. Since it is just another type of savoury and with its rich source of Vitamin B, my mom had no problems in feeding us Marmite.
So what is Marmite and what is Vegimite?
The story begins with: I knew Marmite when I was 5 years old, but it was a pity that we can’t be together. And after 15 years later, I came to know Vegimite in Australia. They have some similarities, dark and taste salty…but somehow I find Vegimite taste less bitter than Marmite, so I chose him to be my lover. We were together for 2 years before I left Australia…and I miss him so much ever since then. I felt like life would be more colourful if I can touch him, hold him, kiss him and lick him. I blamed myself for not being faithful enough, yes…you are right. I betrayed Vegimite for the big fat guy, but I took him as a replacement only.
To Vegimite: No one can ever give me the same feeling as you gave, dear.
Thank you for coming back to me despite of my wrongdoing…

haha, am I too emotional about FOOD? I am a sentimental person, Vegimite really brought me lots of memories. I remembered it was the first foreign food product I had when I was tour guiding a group in Australia. It was a complimentary pack from Grayline to all passengers, and truly it reminds me of the sweet memories I had had with these people, especially the drivers. These Aussies are really kind and very considerate. They would send me home to my doorstep as they knew it’s dangerous (12.00am - 12.30am returning from Philip Island) for a girl walking home, especially during winter.
My best friend, Josephine has just returned from the Downunder. This is the gift she gave me.
hehee…. yummy…
Precaution: To whose who have not tasted Marmite or Vegimite before, please do not spread a lot on your toast, like you thought it taste like Chocolate…you will hate it forever if you do that. A thin layer of spread is enough, trust me….
