Bakuteh

Here I go with another food entry!

Didn’t know where to eat in the morning, so my colleagues has dragged me to this very old shop lot, located right in front of Hotel Dynasty at Jalan Ipoh. I have passed by this shop every now and then, but always had no clue why there are crowded with people, especially at night. So they dragged me there without knowing where was I heading to. Yeah… I had to use drag because they came to my house in a beautiful Saturday morning at 9am sharp. No jokes, 9am sharp.

I was reluctant since I have no idea why people could wake up early just because they wanted to fill up their tummy with what their taste buds have been craving for. Not English breakfast, not char-kuey teow but Bakuteh!! Early morning for Bakuteh!

Who in the world will do that?
Not me for sure.
Any next time?
Probably not at 9am.

Right, stop the complaining. Tell you what, the food is superb! The price is affordable, relatively cheap. But I don’t know how tolerable you are towards the place, it’s kind of old and dirty. I wouldn’t go in if without recommendation.

For people who doesn’t know Bakuteh, it is herbal soup of pork meat and bones. The word BAK means pork in Hockien. They cook Bakuteh with garlic and different spices. Usually Bakuteh is served with Tofupok and Yao Ja Gwai.

I don’t know if I can continue to blog about Bakuteh. I do have some phobia of eating them especially at some shops which claimed to be best seller of Bakuteh. I don’t know how accurate or how real is this news. This incident happened to somebody (don’t know which degree of friend ) who went to this very famous Bakuteh shop in Klang. He thought he was enjoying the pot of Bakuteh but not until later, he scooped a tampon out from the claypot. He was freaked out so he couldn’t stop digging his throat to puke all he had eaten. He argued with the boss and asked why he did that. Apparently this so-called boss believed the act of putting used-tampon into the soup can help him draw more customers to his shop. More customers means more revenue. However what even disgusted me was the guy did not report to the police but chose to accept the bribery. Argh, I don’t know how I would be reacting if I was him. Gosh!

Anyway, I apologise if I have any how disturbed your appetite.
I believe what I had taken in that beautiful morning was something good.
