Come Visit Malaysia 2007!

posted in Video, Fun |

I got more and more excited as the night drew closer. Something BIG was happening around my neighbourhood - Titiwangsa where the Malaysia’s government has chosen this place to hold her grand opening for Visit Malaysia 2007. And not to miss out Eye on Malaysia, the 60 meter high ferris wheel with 40 fully air conditioned gondolas.

Before it's lighten up!

Before it got light up

Car’s traffic was in a huge mess despite the police were directing and controlling the traffic flow. Most of the drivers did not know they were going dead end and had to make a big loop before they could even find a place to park. Some drivers were being inconsiderate to double park on the road side thus caused other cars couldn’t move at all. Some had even parked their cars on the pedestrian path or outside the houses. Guess it became a norm in Malaysia when car park space is limited.

The grand opening of VM2007 started around 21:30 give and take, I don’t know exactly who gave the speech as I wasn’t facing the screen. Almost all of us around the lakeside was just concentrating and counting the time pass for firework blast. The only common thing the crowd had was to rise up and give respect to Malaysia as the national anthem was aired. How patriotic! *sob sob* Even the rain had not dampened our spirit in looking forward to witnessing on ”Eye on Malaysia” opening ceremony.

Some of the photographers (obviously not the pro and patient ones) thought there wasn’t anymore fireworks after the opening, but street wise people like me knew there would be more coming on its way! And true enough there was another 3 minutes fireworks blasting on top of us and many more were blasting. I couldn’t get the best of both world view, it’s either I get the full fiew of Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower and Eye on Malaysia or just the fireworks beautified night sky.

You know, I have always thought that Titiwangsa would become less popular after the built of KLCC park. This would be the place I collect most of my childhood memories. It is my play ground, my hang out place to feed the fishes and tortises. I have 4 tortises that I kept as pet. I freed them to the lake when they were bigger than my dad’s palm size. And now, there is another page added to my memories along with this great celebration event. Call me a daddy’s girl, I have always treasured the moments I spent with him. The sweet memories of us together will not fade.

Now sit back and enjoy some fireworks video clips.
