Singaporean Guys are Gentlemen
Most of the people in my peers have generalized Singaporeans as the Kiasu species. Well, I beg to differ this saying. My personal encounters with Singaporean guys are quite different from what I was told.
It was raining cats and dogs during lunch today. As usual I don’t have the habit of carrying umbrella wherever I go. Moreover the food stall is just few doors away from my office. What the heck to bring an umbrella I thought to myself. But this time, the rain was just pouring down. If I run across the street, I would surely get wet and catch a cold whenI enter the air-conditioned office. My boss offered to shelter us, one by one back to the office. But before I could even say “Yes”, he had already sent my colleague back to our office building. Then, there was this couple asked me if I wanted to join them walking across the street. I gently said “No” since their umbrella is not the golf size umbrella. I probably got them wet also. Without hesitation, I stood around the food stall corner waiting for my boss to come and get me back.
“May I shelter you over?” A macho voice sounding from behind. I looked up to the guy to confirm if it was me he offered the service to.
He smiled to me, his act of opening the umbrella had already confirmed that.
“Thank you, my office is just across the street” I smiled and nodded to him politely.
Somehow or rather, it was so awkward to walk on the street with a total stranger under a same umbrella.
We didn’t talk much, all I know was he is also working nearby.
“Awww…so romantic to walk under the rain eh, with a macho man holding the umbrella for you. Good that I left you behind.” My dear boss teased me at the lobby.
“Yeah I know, very romantic.”
“I know I am always attracted to Indian guys too.”
Shrugged, nonetheless is a handsome Indian chap. he he he ….
Singaporean guys are not kiasu, they are gentlemen. ![]()
