Singaporean Guys are Gentlemen

Most of the people in my peers have generalized Singaporeans as the Kiasu species. Well, I beg to differ this saying. My personal encounters with Singaporean guys are quite different from what I was told.

It was raining cats and dogs during lunch today. As usual I don’t have the habit of carrying umbrella wherever I go. Moreover the food stall is just few doors away from my office. What the heck to bring an umbrella I thought to myself. But this time, the rain was just pouring down. If I run across the street, I would surely get wet and catch a cold whenI enter the air-conditioned office. My boss offered to shelter us, one by one back to the office. But before I could even say “Yes”, he had already sent my colleague back to our office building. Then, there was this couple asked me if I wanted to join them walking across the street. I gently said “No” since their umbrella is not the golf size umbrella. I probably got them wet also. Without hesitation, I stood around the food stall corner waiting for my boss to come and get me back.

“May I shelter you over?” A macho voice sounding from behind. I looked up to the guy to confirm if it was me he offered the service to.

He smiled to me, his act of opening the umbrella had already confirmed that.

“Thank you, my office is just across the street” I smiled and nodded to him politely.

Somehow or rather, it was so awkward to walk on the street with a total stranger under a same umbrella.

We didn’t talk much, all I know was he is also working nearby.

“Awww…so romantic to walk under the rain eh, with a macho man holding the umbrella for you. Good that I left you behind.” My dear boss teased me at the lobby.

“Yeah I know, very romantic.”

“I know I am always attracted to Indian guys too.” :-ss Shrugged, nonetheless is a handsome Indian chap. he he he ….

Singaporean guys are not kiasu, they are gentlemen. :)

5 Lessons I learned On The Road

I’m home now! It is always good to be back home. If you ask me what I miss the most particularly, I must confess it is driving! Our road system may not be as systematic, properly planned as Singapore. I definitely enjoy the liberty of driving around the KL town, to where you desired! But things are not quite smooth this morning when I drove for a breakfast appointment. I saw my friend driving on the road as well, so as being excited I called her on my mobile (Bad!) to tell her I am in town now.  As I was almost approaching to my destination, I ran over the kerb without knowing my tyre had hit a sharp kerb. I thought it was just a rub against the kerb until my church pastor gave me the “flattened” sign.  Yes, a real time drama playing in front of Pastor Thomas, Sis Kim and Pastor Be Eng.

“Oh no! Punctured?” was the first doubt came into my mind.

“Yes….punctured.” I pulled over the car and confirmed my tyre was certified.

“Oh man, I just changed a set of new tyres for less than 1 month! Damn it!”

Lesson 1 : Do not get too excited when you saw your friend on the road.

Lesson 2: Do not call your friend when you drive, even if you have a headset. Worst, don’t even try if without a headset.

Lesson 3: Learn how to replace a spare tyre.

Lesson 4: Learn to pick 2 stones and put them at the back of your rear tyres, if the puncture happens on a slope.

Lesson 5: Learn not to take things for granted, even you thought you are very familiar with the road!

Crash Course with 5 lessons only: RM125

Cheap or not?
